TEACHING AND LEARNING COORDINATOR

What an unprecedented year 2020 has been! We were lucky to have face-to- face teaching in the last term after nearly two terms of remote teaching. The whole year has ZOOMED past so quickly, and we could not enjoy many celebrations and events, such as live school concert, award ceremonies and graduations with all families.

Students have missed out on lots of incursions and excursions this year but at the same time, they have learnt many new technological skills to overcome the situation. Parents, teachers and students have managed to become ‘Zoom Wizards’ in 2020. Who would have thought that MyEdOnline and Zoom could prove to be significant tools in supporting schooling? We got a chance to explore SEQTA further and learnt many functions that were there, but we never used them before. When we look back, every situation teaches us a lesson and there is always hope and new ways to overcome problems.

Our end of year school reports will be available on SEQTA in the digital form during the school holidays and parents will be notified when they can access the reports. School will close for the summer break on the 4th December 2020 and students will commence on the 28th January 2021. School office will be open from 11th January 2021 so parents can organize uniforms and books for the upcoming year.

Congratulations to all parents for the achievements their children have accomplished this year in academic and non-academic areas. I congratulate Year 6 students for completing their last year of primary schooling at Sirius College and I wish them good luck for the forth coming year.

There are no words to thank my wonderful staff members for all that they have done over the years to make Sirius College, Shepparton campus, the school that it is today. It is a team effort and I thank our TEAM on the completion of another unique and exceptional academic year. Our grit, resilience and determination has helped us to get through this tough year.

Mr. Adem Engin, Mrs. Nuriye Engin and Mr. Clark Pelaez will be leaving our campus next year. It has been an honour working with such wonderful colleagues like them in these past years. Saying goodbye is hard but we bid you fair well with the hope that we will meet again. Keep in touch. Good luck to you all and we hope for your success in your new roles.

As we approach the end of the year, I would like on behalf of the staff, to wish you all, happiness over the holidays and into the New Year. Stay safe and enjoy your school break. We look forward to seeing you in 2021!

Kind regards,
Mrs. Amninder Malhi
Teaching and Learning Coordinator
